Cooking July is red hot—both in literally and figuratively. In a literal sense, it’s hot out, so you probably are gravitating towards lighter fare and no-cook dishes. Figuratively, there’s a lot of fun and excitement to be had with meals this month: it starts off with 4th of July barbecues, then there are beach picnics, alfresco dinners, pool parties, and more.
This month’s collection of recipes to try include dishes for every scenario, whether you’re just trying to get dinner on the table on a sweltering weeknight, feeding a crowd to celebrate America’s birthday, or packing a picnic.
No-cook recipes like Cold Shrimp and Crab Soup, Rotisserie Chicken Salad Toasts, and Rockfish Ceviche Tostadas will save you when the last thing you want to do is turn on the stove. Dishes like Cowboy Hot Dogs, Caramelized Tomato Bruschetta, Pizzetta with Parsley Salad will impress a crowd. And Orzo with Peppers and Asparagus and Grilled Mediterranean Vegetable Sandwiches are perfect for on-the-go.
Most importantly, don’t forget about dessert. Celebrate stone fruit season with a Giant Cherry Shortcake or Stone Fruit Cobbler with Almond Spoon Cake. Or keep cool with Roasted Berry Sundaes, Mocha Ice Cream Pie, and Blueberry Cheesecake Frozen Yogurt Sandwiches.
Happy July!
