The Harbor House Inn

From its secluded perch along the Mendocino coastline, the Harbor House Inn emerges as a luxurious exclamation point that punctuates the charming but otherwise unassuming prose of the small town of Elk. After several years of painstaking renovation, this historic property reopened in 2018 to critical acclaim, securing its position as a “must-visit” destination. This swift ascent was undoubtedly due to the property’s Two Michelin-star and Michelin Green Star, 20-seat, seasonal-tasting-menu-only restaurant, led by Executive Chef Matthew Kammerer. The magic of the Harbor House Inn spans beyond its exceptional culinary prowess, with touches of quiet luxury around every turn: thoughtfully planted walkable gardens; panoramic views from the private cove, plush bedding in every room; lavish breakfast offerings. For overnight stays at the 11-room inn, guests can choose one of six traditional rooms in the main house, or opt for one of the five ultra-private standalone cottages, each with an attached patio/deck.
