The Love Shack

This brand new cocktail bar in Portland, Oregon’s Slabtown neighborhood throws a party every night, with table side bar cart service and a bingo-style menu of elevated snacks—all in a tropical-inspired setting under a central hanging palapa. Since opening in February 2024, guests line up every night to snack on Croissant Banh Mi (marinated pork, pickled carrot, cucumber, cilantro, sambal aioli), Oysters + Champagne for two (oysters on the half-shell, mignonette, mini champagne bottle), and Wonton Fish Tacos (ahi tuna, nam-jin jaew, avocado whip). This is the second project from restaurateur and chef Garrett Benedict, who opened the popular, vegetable-focused restaurant, G-Love (Garrett’s nickname growing up in Anchorage, Alaska), after working at renowned Michelin three-star The Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa, and the groundbreaking restaurant Ubuntu. The Love Shack is a bright spot on Portland’s new bar map.
