Family Fun Attractions in Oakland

Oakland offers endless opportunities for family fun. Children’s Fairyland has graced the shores of Lake Merritt since 1950 and inspired Walt Disney to create Disneyland after visiting the opening of the beloved whimsical theme park. The Oakland Zoo, which celebrated its 100th birthday in 2022, is the home to 850 animals who live at the 100-acre retreat, and is recognized as the only zoo in the world to be endorsed by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). Oakland is also home to 30 parks; as well as the Oakland Museum of California and the Chabot Space & Science Center.
