Siouxzen Kang is all about connecting visitors with experiences that embody Taos, New Mexico’s creative, community-driven spirit. And while this ski haven is known for its wintertime magic, it’s just as magnetic in the warmer months, with hiking trails, river days, and a thriving arts scene. With deep local ties and a finger on the pulse of what’s happening beyond the main drags, Siouxzen shares what she gets into when she’s not behind the camera that makes Taos so special year-round.
STAY

Hotel Willa is a brand-new, 1940s motor lodge turned design-forward boutique hotel that boasts a beautiful courtyard marked by a majestic 70-year-old cascading willow tree, firepits, hammocks, and a group-size dry sauna. Plus, it’s pet-friendly. Hacienda del Sol is a 13-room bed-and-breakfast, tucked away on the north side of town, that has the most beautiful views of El Salto. It’s such a beautiful, peaceful space, and it includes a lovely continental breakfast in the morning with such thoughtfulness in each of the rooms.
EAT

Within walking distance of the Hacienda is The Love Apple, where you can have a romantic, hyper-seasonal Northern New Mexican meal in an old chapel. At Medley, it feels like everybody knows your name. The food is fantastic and consistent, with an overall great neighborhood vibe. Grab a quick bite with your favorite bartenders, watch the hockey game, then pop next door to its wine shop to grab a bottle for later. I’m not a margarita fan, but the mezcal margaritas will make you a convert. And at Juliette, you’ll find a curious and imaginative menu, including an incredible green chile burger that’s perfect with beef-fat-fried potatoes and aioli. Treehouse Bar is full of your good ol’ classics, and it’s a more casual version of the fine dining icon Lambert’s of Taos below.

Touring the Couse-Sharp Historic Site is like stepping back in time. And if you love contemporary Western art, Robert L. Parsons Fine Art is a must.
