Eggplant paint, gray-green marble, and a honed stone fireplace make this kitchen the heart and hub of the house.

Clara Jung of Banner Day pivoted her own kitchen remodel when she realized she was using the space wrong. She swapped a table for the standard island, a smart move for cooks who want to visit with guests before, during, and after a meal. Cheery paint is a bonus!

Sleek, smooth, and stowed away, this ultra-streamlined kitchen practically vanishes into the walls. The Oakland-based, women-led team integrated this thoughtful modern home into the surrounding oak-studded landscape, but the stealth kitchen design is the star of the show.
