Taste Newberg
Newberg is the first town (just 40 minutes from Portland) along the storied Highway 99 wine route through the Willamette Valley. While it’s often passed by on the way to the Dundee Hills or McMinnville, it’s home to both Oregon Pinot Noir pioneers with bucolic estate vineyards (Adelsheim, REX HILL, Brick House), as well as newer wineries making waves in the industry (CHO Vineyards, Et Filles, Compris). Newberg’s charming downtown is dotted with friendly owner-operated restaurants, cafés, art galleries, and shops. Those who stop to explore downtown are always delighted by what they find, whether it’s Rosmarino restaurant (the only restaurant in Oregon to make OpenTable’s best restaurants in America list), or a vintage treasure from the myriad antique boutiques. Experiences in many of the area’s tasting rooms have recently been elevated to a level to match their iconic wines.
