Chef Shaya brings his Michelin-recognized Safta restaurant to the desert with a playful iteration of the restaurant whose name translates to “grandmother” in Hebrew. Safta 1964 celebrates Grandma’s fictional heyday, before she became a safta in the first place. Picture her dressed to the nines, complete with her signature red lipstick, driving her white 1964 Thunderbird convertible west and toasting the town. She’s the magnetic life of the party, sipping martinis and running the blackjack table. Safta 1964’s menu channels her spirit with offerings from a chef’s tasting to salatim platters, large-format dishes for the table, caviar add-ons, and more. Design elements call on our heroine’s aesthetic, with a bold, retro color scheme, floral touches and glitzy details.
