Oakland’s Vast Outdoors
Oakland features 80 parks to explore the great outdoors. These include two redwood parks; Oakland Redwood Regional Park and Joaquin Miller Park—with thousands of acres of redwood forests (some dating back to the 1880’s); and 1200 miles of hiking trails throughout its 78.5 square miles. The city also features 19 miles of coastline with a Marina, waterfront attractions, trails and parks. Lake Merritt, considered the crown jewel of “The Town” provides a 3-mile radius for walking; running; or cycling. It’s also the only natural saltwater lake in the world located in a city—Oakland!
