Dinosaur Ridge

Dinosaur Ridge is an outdoor museum located 20 minutes west of Denver, Colorado, featuring America’s #1 dinosaur tracksite. A sloping layer of Cretaceous sandstone was once a coastline where dinosaurs, crocodiles and other prehistoric animals roamed in search of food. Preserved footprints of adult and juvenile dinos show a diversity of animals living alongside each other. A two-mile roundtrip paved road enables walkers, cyclists, and bus tour groups to explore multiple sites where trace fossils and bones fossils still embedded in rock reveal a very different Colorado landscape and ecosystem spanning both the Cretaceous and Jurassic time periods. Views of the iconic Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre add to the wonder of this special site which sits within a National Natural Landmark. Open daily from sunrise to sunset.
