Fjellsangin

Fjellsangin™—Norwegian for “Mountain Song,” pronounced FYELL-sahn-ghin—sits on Mount Tahoma Canyon Road East, the original route to Mount Rainier before Highway 706, backing directly onto the Nisqually Land Trust. Old-growth forest and protected conservation land form its permanent, unhurried backdrop.

Owners Jennifer and Lee designed it from a single conviction: they wanted a place they would actually want to stay. Jennifer holds a degree in interior design; Lee thinks like an artist. The best decisions came from the collision of both. Lee hand-milled the cedar headboards, crafted the stairwell and loft art pieces, and photographed Christine Falls—that image now anchors the great room. Jennifer’s own photography lines the bedroom walls. A beam reading “Make Room for Silence” runs through the great room. It says everything.

Outside, a cedar sauna, outdoor shower, and cedar-log hot tub pavilion complete a full contrast therapy sequence. Modern by design. Wild by nature.
