Avengers fans have one more reason to assemble with the latest news from Disneyland: the Avengers Campus is expanding. Disneyland has officially submitted plans to the city of Anaheim to double the size of the Marvel-themed area in Disney California Adventure, according to the Orange County Register.

We first caught wind of this in September, when Nexstar reporter Scott Gustin Scott Gustin shared news that the backstage Red Car Trolley barn was closing down to free up space for a bigger Avengers Campus. This also comes shortly after Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro revealed that two new rides—Stark Flight Lab and Avengers Infinity Defense—were joining that part of the park. With the addition of these attractions, the campus will double in size.

Construction is expected to start in early 2025, and the plan “addresses utilities, temporary trailers and parking lots in the backstage area behind Avengers Campus,” according to the OC Register. Right now, the site is also home to an employee parking lot and staff buildings.

While most Disney enthusiasts are looking forward to the expansion, others are sad to see the Red Car Trolley leave the premises. There is currently a change.org petition asking Disneyland to save the attraction by relocating it or building a new shed to store the trolleys.

“Ultimately, we ask Disney to reconsider permanently removing the Red Car Trolley,” petitioners wrote. “We ask to see if they can consider building a new trolley shed elsewhere, and keep the trolleys running in the future. We hope the new generation can see the original vision of Buena Vista Street, and learn of the backstory of Walt Disney’s love of California.”
