From the Mediterranean to India, Japan, Cambodia, and beyond, these skewers are reason enough to fire up the grill.

Kebabs, kabobs, satay, souvlaki, skewers… is there anything more universal (and delicious) than meat on a stick? We think not! People around the globe have been threading food onto skewers and putting them over a fire for hundreds of years, putting their own cultural spin on it with marinades, spices, and dipping sauces.

In honor of grilling season, we are sharing our favorite recipes from around the globe. For Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors, try Mediterranean Lamb Kebabs, Yogurt-Marinated Chicken Kebabs with Israeli Couscous, and Armenian Lula Kebabs. Or look towards Asia for inspiration: Kung Pao Chicken Kebabs, Japanese Seven-Spice Lamb Kebabs, Chicken Thigh Yakitori, and Chao Tôm.

And don’t just limit yourself to meat, what about seafood or veggies, like Grilled Watermelon and Shrimp Skewers, Halibut and Squash Ribbon Skewers with Pistachio-Mint Salsa Verde, Japanese Tofu Skewers on Soba, and zucchini and eggplant skewers. We also have some creative dessert skewer recipes too: Pineapple Satay with Coconut Caramel, Grilled Strawberry Shortcake Kebabs, and Strawberry French Toast Kebabs

Fire up that grill and give these recipes a try!
