After earning MICHELIN acclaim with Alma Fonda Fina—a heartfelt ode to his mother and the fonda-style meals of his childhood—Chef Johnny Curiel now turns his focus to his father’s legacy with Alteño. Recently recognized with a MICHELIN Recommendation, Alteño is rooted in the bold, fire-kissed flavors of Jalisco’s highlands and serves as a tribute to the culinary traditions passed down by Curiel’s father, a revered chef and restaurateur. His spirit—the original Alteño, or “highlander”—imbues every detail of the campestre-style restaurant, from cevichería-inspired dishes to the vegetables and proteins cooked in the kitchen’s expansive hearth. Alteño is located inside the Clayton Hotel & Members Club in Cherry Creek North.
