Wood River Extreme Skijoring Association

Wood River Extreme Ski Joring Association’s annual Bellevue, Idaho event that brings together horses, skiers, and a cheering community for a one-of-a-kind winter competition. Fast horses tow brave skiers and snowboarders down a 600–900-foot snow-packed course, where competitors tackle one to three jumps and reach speeds up to 40 miles per hour. All while spearing salad plate-sized rings with a “free” arm. A clean run means hitting the jumps, grabbing rings from both rider and skier, and crossing the finish in one piece—missed rings and skipped jumps cost precious points, and winners are crowned on their combined times over both days. Started in the late 1990s, it has grown into a beloved weekend tradition featuring multiple racing divisions, family-friendly energy, and a strong local following. Visitors come for the action, stay for the Western atmosphere, and support youth and winter recreation programs with every ticket and swag purchase.
