This Is the Best New Food Item at Disneyland—But It’s Only Available for a Limited Time
What’s better than one comfort food? Two comfort foods sandwiched into one.

There are some Disney days that call for churros and popcorn, and those special occasions when a fine dining experience at the newly reopened Napa Rose is on the itinerary. But what about when you need a bit more sustenance, without the hefty price tag? That’s why I’d argue the annual Food & Wine Festival at California Adventure is the best time to visit the parks. And for a limited time, you can get my new favorite dish: the spinach artichoke grilled cheese.

Over at Pym Test Kitchen in the Avengers Campus, they’re cooking up all sorts of whimsical treats. During a demonstration at a media preview for the festival, one Disney chef shared that this newly invented grilled cheese was inspired by a Super Bowl staple: spinach artichoke dip. The creamy appetizer was reimagined as a decadent lunch- or dinnertime indulgence, complete with a hearty, gooey center sandwiched between two sourdough slices (one of which is parmesan-crusted!). It’s crunchy, flavorful, and slightly nostalgic.
Sadly, there’s not much time to score one of these grilled cheese sammies. The Food & Wine Festival runs from now until Monday, April 27. If you make a visit to the parks, this dish is one of many they’re rolling out for the next few weeks. Chicharrón nachos, carbonara pizza, and cherry cola cold brew are a handful of the most highly anticipated food and drink debuts at California Adventure.
Honoring the rich wine and culinary history of California, this festival boasts bookable experiences such as wine tastings and mixology classes, along with a complimentary cooking demonstrations at the Hollywood Backlot Stage. It’s also the perfect time to get a Sip and Savor Pass, which allows you to try six snack-sized portions and make the most of your wining and dining experience.
I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention that California Adventure’s iconic, ultra-nostalgic Soarin’ Over California attraction is back in business during the festival. Prepare to fly across all sorts of premier destinations out West, and there’s just something about the multi-sensory sensation of smelling fresh oranges while hovering over the citrus groves. Whether you’re a born-and-bred Californian or frequent visitor, the flavors and fun of the festival will make you never want to leave the Golden State.
