Genghis Cohen

Genghis Cohen opened in 1983 by music producer Allan Rinde. In 1997, Allan sold Genghis Cohen to long-time maître d’, Raymond Kiu, until he sold it to Marc Rose and Med Abrous of Call Mom (The Spare Room and La Dolce Vita ) in 2015. The restaurant is a cultural institution and has never closed, continuing to serve the neighborhood since ‘83. You can still find regulars, who have been ordering the same thing for the past 40 years and sitting at “their” table alongside a multi-generational mix of LA’s Jewish community, families, NYC-style Chinese food enthusiasts, musicians, skateboarders, and more.
