This Safari-Style Hotel Offers Rain Showers and Private Plunge Pools (Plus, Stunning Views of Moab)
Under Canvas launched a new brand called ULUM and it’s their most extravagant adventure offering yet.
Under Canvas, known for their stunning safari-style accommodations located near national parklands, announced the arrival, at the end of 2022, of a high-design resort called ULUM that is located just steps from Looking Glass Arch in Moab, Utah. The property is situated on 200 acres of ochre desert landscape surrounded by 100-foot cliffs on three sides and boasts panoramic views of Canyonlands National Park.
The resort is made of up of all-suite, safari-inspired accommodation tents that mimic a luxury hotel experience including hot and cold dipping pools, upscale all-day dining, fire pits, and a yoga deck.
“ULUM introduces a higher level of comfort in nature, taking the very best of Under Canvas and adding refinements,” said Matt Gaghen, chief executive officer of Under Canvas. “With more than a decade of experience providing exceptional hospitality in remote environments paired with heightened demand to explore amazing destinations like Moab made it the perfect time for us to introduce a new concept that will inspire both existing and new guests alike.”
The design of the property plays off the natural beauty of the area, known for its world-class hiking and biking trails, white-water rafting, and canyoneering. Nature-inspired, organic materials throughout the hotel include local stone and natural wood, with the entry revealing a custom-crafted chandelier made entirely of ancient rock fragments from the site. There are some unique sustainability points in place, too. Walls were made with recycled paper board, and shower basins and sinks employ carbon sequestration to minimize the carbon footprint. The resort also utilizes International Dark Sky standards throughout their development process to mitigate light pollution and maximize Moab’s gorgeous night sky.
Resort programming includes complimentary yoga, stargazing, onsite hiking, live music, and gourmet s’mores over the firepit once the sun goes down. They also have wide variety of adventure experiences that can be booked, from gentle to level-10 adrenaline-pumping activities.
Keeping with the theme of luxury, the suites boast modern amenities like plush Parachute linens and robes, and a lounge area with West Elm furnishings, rain showers, polished concrete sinks, and Aesop bath products. Their restaurant serves a seasonal menu of Southwest inspired flavors. Plus, there are Rivian Waypoints Level 2 chargers on site for juicing up e-vehicles.
