Disneyland is taking measures to make wait times more bearable

Not much has been revealed about the new attractions coming to Disneyland‘s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge this May 31, but there is one thing visitors can absolutely count on: super long lines.

When it opens, Galaxy’s Edge will offer two rides in addition to the numerous immersive attractions and shops. One, Rise of the Resistance, debuts later this year, but Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run launches with the new land in a couple of months.

Disneyland, however, is anticipating the surge in interest, and has devised a system for those who can’t hang with hours-long lines without a bathroom trip.

As Disneyland vice president Kris Theiler explained to the OC Register, riders will be able to grab a bathroom pass (in the form of a lanyard) from a Disney employee before heading to the restroom. When they’re done, they’ll be instructed to wait near the FastPass merge location. When their families or friends get close to that point, they’ll be able to rejoin them.

The bathroom pass isn’t the park’s only effort to mitigate guests’ irritability during long waits. The line itself will weave through themed halls, not unlike those leading up to Indiana Jones Adventure or Guardians of the Galaxy –  Mission: Breakout!

The wait begins at Ohnaka Transport Solutions, a “disreputable shipping operation” where the Millennium Falcon is being stored. From there, the queue weaves through caves marked by ancient extraterrestrials before the ride begins.

Disneyland is also reportedly dreaming up ways to bring in live entertainers and food vendors to help visitors stave off hunger and boredom.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disneyland on May 31, 2019.
