North Star Close

Thomas J. Story
Spirit-forward and deeply spiced, this cocktail nods toward the coming of autumn. Apple and cinnamon is a classic combination in the shrub that gives the drink a kick apart from the alcohol.
How to Make It
1
Make the Spiced Apple Shrub: In a 2-quart saucepan, combine the fruit juice, brown sugar, vinegar, and ginger. Bring it to a boil over medium heat. Add orange peel and cinnamon. Lower the heat and let simmer for 5 minutes. Strain and cool.
2
Make the cocktail: Combine cocktail ingredients and shake well with ice. Strain over a large ice cube into a bucket glass. Garnish with Luxardo cherry.
