Beverly Hills, California—February 26, 2026—Sunset, publisher of Sunset Magazine and Sunset.com, today announced a partnership with America250, the national nonpartisan organization established by Congress to lead the nation’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Founded in 1898 to encourage travel, discovery, and connection to the American West, Sunset has spent more than a century chronicling the region’s architecture, food traditions, outdoor living, travel destinations, and evolving cultural identity. Through this partnership, Sunset will spotlight how the Western lifestyle—including national parks, public lands, and historic communities—contributes to the broader American story.
“Sunset was created to help people thrive the West,” said Hugh Garvey, editor-in-chief, Sunset. “As America approaches its 250th anniversary, we have an opportunity to explore how Western traditions in architecture, design, food, and travel enrich the independent spirit that has long shaped the country.”
“Sunset audiences have always been drawn to the intersection of place, culture, and lifestyle,” said Kelly Facer, Senior Vice President of Sunset. “Partnering with America250 allows us to celebrate not only the natural beauty of the West, but also the design, cuisine, travel traditions, and everyday living that continue to influence how Americans experience the country today.”

As part of the collaboration, Sunset will produce editorial features across print, social, and digital to celebrate the evolving heritage of Western living in all its dimensions. Content will explore everything from national parks and conservation to regional food traditions, home design, outdoor recreation, and the communities that shape life across the West.
“America’s 250th anniversary is an opportunity to recognize the diverse regions and traditions that shape our national identity,” said Jen Condon, Executive Vice President at America250. “Sunset’s longstanding focus on the people, places, and lifestyle of the American West offers a meaningful way to highlight how regional stories contribute to the broader American experience, and we’re proud to partner with them to commemorate this milestone.”
America250’s commemoration will culminate in 2026, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The initiative seeks to bring Americans together across regions and generations to reflect on the nation’s past, celebrate shared experiences, and renew commitment to democratic ideals.
