Signal is an architecture studio specializing in people-centered design. Our connections with the people who experience our buildings—on all levels and over time—are our inspiration. We design across scale and typology, from public cultural centers and landmarks, to retreats and private residences. At every scale and setting, we strive for approachable, welcoming places that celebrate our shared time on this planet. We are synthesizers with a deep reverence for context, listening for the signals emitted by people and places to shape responsive designs that are one-of-a-kind and of the moment.

Large or small, private or public, the common thread uniting our work is our people-centered process. Since our founding in 2014, we have honed our role as advocates, helping clients articulate their values to make site-specific architecture. We empower clients and communities so they can become true stewards of a place. Finding deep value in all our project collaborators, we honor their contributions by centering the design on our collective expertise.

Our roots in complex, public-facing projects inform our commitment to an articulate design expression. We provide clarity that instills empathy and trust among all project contributors, guiding an exploratory design process to reveal the unique character of each project. Together with our clients, we refine the design so that poetry between material, light, proportion, and function can emerge. Clarity in process leads to clarity in design—resonant with meaning.
