Airstream Launches New Floor Plan for the Remote Worker
“The pandemic has permanently changed the traditional work landscape.”
Airstream, Inc., the company behind the unmistakable line of “silver bullet” recreational vehicles, has announced the launch of a new floor plan designed to accommodate a public continually pivoting away from office space and into telework.
The Flying Cloud 30FB Office floor plan is highlighted by a dedicated office nook and more connectivity amenities than ever before, making it the first Airstream specifically designed for the on-the-go remote employee.
To facilitate a built-in workspace, Airstream repurposed the back corner of the Flying Cloud 30FB to better reflect a lifestyle of “closing your laptop and stepping out onto the trail,” Bob Wheeler, Airstream President and CEO, said in a release.
“The pandemic has permanently changed the traditional work landscape and we’re thrilled to offer a travel trailer that meets the needs of our times without compromise,” Wheeler said. “Airstream has always provided the freedom of a mobile living, playing, and working space, but the Flying Cloud 30FB Office takes that promise to the next level with flexibility and comfort in a design inspired by real-world experience.”
The office area includes a securable chair that can slide into a recessed space on one side of the desk, a measure of flexibility designed to allow the area to convert into a sleeping area if desired. Additionally, the workspace is complemented by three windows that allow for plenty of natural light, while blackout curtains are readily available to ensure privacy.
The remaining sections of the office variant of the Flying Cloud 30FB retain “all the amenities and comforts that make it one of the most popular travel trailers in Airstream’s lineup,” the release said, including a queen bed, a bench, and convertible dinette.
Notable features of the Flying Cloud 30FB Office, which has a base weight of 6,757 pounds and carries an MSRP of $107,500, include:
- A desk with sliding drawer storage and additional storage cubbies
- An office chair that can be secured with a strap while traveling
- Numerous USB ports throughout the desk area
- Pop-up USB/AC outlet run by 1000W power inverter
- Pull-out/collapsible table for additional work space
- Satellite TV/HDMI outlet access via onboard Blu-Ray DVD player
- Privacy divider
- Two cable desk grommets
- Overhead storage cabinets featuring dry erase surfaces and LED lights
- Three windows for natural light with blackout curtains
“The Flying Cloud has seen a lot of changes since it was introduced in 1949, but it’s always been a popular option for families and couples,” Justin Humphreys, Airstream VP of Sales, said in the release. “This new unit makes a small change to an already excellent floor plan….It gives you even more flexibility to get outdoors, spend time with family, and stay connected to your work. It’s the Airstream dream come true.”
