The Headquarters at Seaport District, which opened between downtown and the waterfront, has a past as colorful as its trendy new shops and restaurants. Built in 1939, it was the city’s first police station and features ornate Spanish revival–style architecture and a large open courtyard. Signs of its former life are evident still: You can stroll through eight preserved jail cells and see mug shots of former inmates near the restrooms.
