Swivel office desk chair from Apt2B

I’m sure I’m not alone in saying this: My home office has become my only office.

About six out of 10 workers in the U.S. with jobs that can be done remotely are working from home most or all of the time, according to the Pew Research Center. That transition, for many, hasn’t been quick or easy, and a lot of workers are still acclimating to their new work environments, whether that’s a temporary space at the dining table, a cloffice, or a room dedicated to work (for at least part of the day).

If you’re starting to realize your temporary work space is becoming a fairly permanent situation, it might be time for a furniture upgrade. I’m starting with my desk chair.

Replacing furniture, like a new desk or office chair, is a great way to gradually level-up your home decor. As our spaces become “slash rooms,” or in other words, an office/guest room/game room/TV room, furniture can be a budget-friendly (and timeline-friendly) solution for adapting those rooms to what we need them to be now.

We’re sitting at our desks, in our desk chairs, for hours every day. Let your chair reflect your style so you’re excited to get to your work space every day, but be sure to keep things comfortable so you’ll want to stay there. For some, that might mean investing in velvet upholstery for a luxe look or purchasing an oversized armchair that you won’t want to leave. For others, maybe you’re inclined toward a stately leather or perhaps a midcentury modern accent is calling your name.

No matter your style or budget, a desk chair is a great place to start when upgrading your office space to better reflect your new work environment. Take a look at a few options below.
