Announcing the 2025 Sunset Western Home & Design Awards—Enter Today!

For over 125 years Sunset has celebrated the people, ideas, and designers behind the adobes, A-frames, beach bungalows, modernist compounds, and ranch houses that are the backdrop of the Sunset lifestyle. This year we’re launching the Western Home & Design Awards to honor the people and studios evolving the designs that define living well in the West. The entry period is now open—submissions close on November 1, so go here to enter!

Judged by Sunset editors, the awards will highlight design professionals based in the Western United States and some regions of Canada and Mexico (Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, British Columbia and Alberta, Canada, and Baja California and Baja California Sur).

All entrants will be listed in our annual online Home & Design Directory (with a founder portrait and portfolio), searchable by region and practice. This directory will be the go-to Western resource for homeowners looking for professionals in their region to upgrade their homes or yards. The winners will be announced and profiled in a feature story in the April/May 2025 issue of Sunset magazine and celebrated on our website in a robust online package and promoted across our newsletters and social platforms.

The submissions will be divided into these categories:

• Residential interior design and decor: The firms and people creating unforgettable interiors in Western homes.
• Residential landscape architecture and garden design: The best of landscape design in the West, from minimalists to maximalists to native plant specialists to edible garden enthusiasts.
• Residential architecture: The firms that are raising the bar when it comes to designing iconic homes.
• Kitchen design: The designers who make the culinary heart of the home sing.
• Makers: The furniture makers, tile producers, lighting designers, wallpaper specialists, and other companies that are proudly based in and manufacture in the West.
