The Futuristic, Over-the-Top Remodel of Chandon’s Napa Winery Is Design Eye Candy

“We approached the project as a continuation of the [original] design, almost as if we were building on an archaeological site,” says Linda Taalman. “The structural integrity of the cast-in place concrete brutalist foundation and the barrel-vaulted wood structure formed as much a part of the site as the majestic oaks they so carefully avoided.” The barrel-shaped ceilings are a striking structural element that references the winemaking process.

Dramatic swooping sailcloth cabanas offer breezy shelter and private dining experiences for groups of up to 12. Here guests can sip on spritzes made with housemade orange bitters before a lunch of dishes such as mushroom pizzette, beef carpaccio, and macarons paired with Chandon’s seasonal bottlings, including their organic sparkling rosé.

Exclusively accessible to members of Club Chandon, Club Chandon Lounge is a well-appointed indoor-outdoor space with comfortable sofas, low tables, and a bar where members can create customizable wine shipments, experience exclusive cuvées and tasting flights, and enjoy special events while taking advantage of discounts. Members can also access private patios and other seating areas throughout the property.

The on-site store is one of the most luxe wine shops to open in Napa in years. This jewel of a space features all of Chandon’s bottlings, including limited edition cuvées, as well as products made by local artisans, further connecting Chandon Home to the terroir it calls home.

The Chandon Home’s gardens are landscaped with trees and flowing grasses that border paths and seating areas dotted throughout the property where guests can enjoy wines and picnic boxes underneath the native California Valley oaks. There’s also a kitchen garden growing seasonal produce and herbs that can be booked for private tastings.

Wine was made to go with food and here’s where the sparkling wines of Chandon are showcased in four distinct culinary settings under one barrel-vaulted roof: Tasting menus featuring locally sourced ingredients like Tomales Bay mussels and Snake River Farm short rib; the aforementioned Yountville Terrace; the Micro Bar offering wines by the glass and small plate; and the Cove, an intimate space for private events.
